A Visit To Provo
So a few Sundays I was able to go to Provo with Julie and see how college life is like, So I thought I would tell all the adventures we had which were many:) First off, we got up and got ready for church in Grantsville and then we drove to Provo for Church, Julie hadn't been to her ward for a while (she would come home for the weekends) and she THOUGHT Relief society started at 11:00 am, well we get to church which is at the school they don't actually have a church building, well we go to the room where they meet and no one was there, BUT we could her singing in the room across the hall and so we thought "oh maybe they changed the schedule for the holidays and are meeting in there so we go in just as they finished singing and rushed to sit down somewhere of course people were looking at us, we barely made it to our seats when they started the prayer, during the prayer I could feel Julie laughing next to me, I started to panic "are we in priesthood" were my thoughts "wait I heard women voices singing the song when we came in, so why is Julie laughing?" when the prayer was done I turned to Julie but she didn't have to say anything, everyone started getting up from their seats, "The meeting is over!!!" AAAHHHH I was so embarrassed, no wonder people were giving us really weird looks when we came in, we made a big disturbance for the closing prayer. Luckily it wasn't Julies ward, well I don't know. After we realized what happened Julie turned to the guy she was sitting next to and explained she didn't know about the change for the holiday and we heard singing and thought they were just beginning their meeting, he just sat there smiling and chuckling, this is going to be an interesting visit:) Well we met up with her ward they were meeting in the room below, sadly we missed sacrament meeting, but we did get to hear a closing prayer of one:) Julie introduced me to some of her friends and made it a point that I was her YOUNGER sister and only 16 years old:) We had Sunday school and Relief society (which we combined Relief society and Priesthood), every thing was really good, I learned so much, the spirit was really strong. After all of our meetings everyone stayed for a little bit and visited. Now here comes our next adventure, as we were standing in the entryway about to leave two young men come up to Julie and starts talking with her asking her questions, here I'll write some of the conversation: "So what's your name?" "Julie" and then her sticks out his hand to shake and says "Jubal" and then Julie says "No, Julie" he just smiles and continues talking with her asking her some other questions "Where are you from" "How many siblings do you have" and there were some other questions as well which I can not recall because I was just dumb founded at how many questions he was asking. After he talked with her for a couple minutes he asked if we were doing anything that night, we didn't know so he then mentioned that there was a Christmas musical program over at the Orem institute building that him and his friend (who was standing there the whole time and just barely started talking to us as well) were going to, Julie did have something at 5:30 and so she didn't think we could make it. What a relief that was to me to hear her say that I did not want to go with these guys who we don't know at all to this program that night, but the relief did not last long at all, he said that the program was 6:00 pm and there was another one at 8:00 pm and his friend and him were going to go to the one at 8:00 pm, what a coincident right? Julie said she wasn't sure if we would make it, his friend Ryan then said "here give your number to Jubal here" he said patting his friends back "and we'll text you when we are going and see if you can come" WAIT did he just say that this guy we have been talking to was named Jubal, and so at the beginning of the conversation when He said "Jubal" and Julie said "no, Julie" he was actually saying his name not hers!!!! AAAAHHHH another embarrassing moment within 2 &1/2 hours. We just looked at each other for a second and tried not to laugh. Well I started to panic there is no way that Julie can give these guys her number!!!! He (Jubal) didn't have his phone with him but he said he could just memorize it, "Julie don't you dare give it to him" were my exact thoughts. Julie had a better idea and pulled out her phone and said " here I'll text you and tell you if we can come" "Yes, they don't have your number" I thought:) so they gave her his phone number and we parted ways:) "WOW, what just Happened!!!" I thought as we were driving to the apartment. When we got to her apartment we brought everything in and got settled and then we got out our stuff to make goodies for the fellow apartmentiestextedRiveria (that is the name of her apartment complex) members only" Ok so he won't give up. well Julie invited him and his friends as long as they had their own ride. We still had about three house before 8:00 and all that time to worry what we just did inviting those guys. So Julie invited an other guy (Brodrick) who she knows from her ward (he lives at the Riveria as well) so she wouldn't be stuck with those guys if anything went wrong which I thought would not knowing anything about them, you know being a caring and protective younger sister as I am:) The time came and Jubal and his friends were in the parking lot waiting for us. We went and gathered everyone that was coming with us caroling, which ended up being a pretty big group. We went to the parking lot and introduced Jubal and his friends to some people in our group and then we got in our car, Brodrick the guy Julie invited after Jubal, was going to come with us and so I climbed in the back so he could have front but low and behold one of Julie's girl friends came too and so Brodick came in the back with me and then there was an other guy that came with us he lives at the Riveria as well, he came with us too and he got in the back with Brodrick and I, it was pretty awkward I was in the middle and stuck with these two guys in the back, we were squished, and then there was Julie and her Friend Eva the two smallest of us all in the car, nicely situated up front. It was quite a sight:) It ended up being a fun night, Jubal and his friends were really nice and made friends with everyone, the night would have been really different if they didn't come, and I am actually happy they came. What a story right? We all ended up at Brodricks apartment for Hot chocolate, it was so much fun!!! The next day Julie and I got up and got ready for the day and then I packed up my things and we went to a bread store and got a slice of yummy bread for breakfast and a banana and then we went Christmas Shopping!!!! It was fun. We then headed home for Jenni's Birthday which was that day. One last funny story, so we are driving a long and I see a sign which says 10 minutes to Salt Lake City, "Yea we are getting close" I thought, and then continued thinking and talking with Julie, well we go for another 20 min or so, and then Julie says "Has it ever happened to you where you drive the same route over and over and then you see a sign which you hadn't seen before, like I haven't ever noticed the lagoon sign?" I started getting a little nervous thinking "are we lost" I told I don't think that has happened to me" Well we continue on wards, "Well it seems like everything else is familiar to her so we must be going the right way", about 10 min. later I hear "Kallie!!! Nothing looks familiar, I think we pasted our exit!!" "What?" Wow we were lost. in fact we were 8 minutes from Ogdon. Well we turn around and start heading back, we started laughing, we couldn't believe that we pasted Salt Lake with out noticing at all, as we were back tracking I saw the Lagoon!!! Not a sign to the Lagoon but the actual place, "Wait Julie you mean we passed the Lagoon and you didn't notice we had gone to far?" "That is what I was talking about when I said it not looking familiar" "I thought you meant you saw a sign to the lagoon" "No, wait you mean if you knew that we passed the lagoon that we had gone to far?" "Yes." No joke that was our conversation. We started laughing some more, we had just taken a 45 min. detour. We pulled out the camera and took some pictures of the lagoon as we passed it. We found our exit and made it home an hour later than we planed, but we made it there safely:) That was my Provo experience.
