The Robe

So I read an amazing book. It is by far the best book I have ever read. It is called the robe and it is by LLOYD C. DOUGLAS. I love the book. It made me so grateful to live in a day in age where we can be Christians and talk freely about our beliefs. Reading the book made me gain courage to talk about my beliefs no matter the consequence. If you have not read the Robe, you should... wait, no you have to:) Here is the Picture & summary of the book:

Marcellus Galleo is a wealthy young officer in Rome. His sister (a beautiful young woman), his father (a senator), and himself have recently denounced or offended Prince Gaius, who rules Rome in the absence of his uncle, Emperor Tiberius. Gaius uses his authority to have Marcellus' commission activated and sends him to the worst post in the Empire, the one the locals call Gaza, in Palestine.
Diana (a friend of Marcellus's sister) is in love with Marcellus, and is finally able to persuade her grandfather, Emperor Tiberius, to rescind Marcellus' orders. But it is too late. Marcellus has had to carry out one duty that he could not handle emotionally or mentally. He had to be in charge of the crucifixion of a man he was certain was innocent. This Galillean seemed to be hated by the local religious leaders who were able to convince their Roman leader to put this Jesus to death. Marcellus, drunk at the scene of the crucifixion, won the robe the Galillean wore with his high toss of the dice. Later that evening he donned the robe on a dare. His mind snapped.
Demetrius is Marcellus' Greek slave and friend. Against orders he keeps that special robe and hides it from his master. Marcellus receives his orders to return to Rome. He does, but is a sick man. Demetrius and Marcellus find themselves on a journey to heal them physically, mentally, and spiritually. They learn more of this strange, innocent Gallilean and his followers. They each discover the path they must take in order for their lives to be important to themselves and others.

It is a very good book. Well you should stop reading this post and go get the book and read it:)  I am in love with this book, there is nothing bad in it, it makes you want to stand up for what you believe in... are you still reading this? I thought I told you to stop:) hahaha JK. But seriously go read the book.

  1. Oh my goodness, more books for me to read! I already have like 30 I need to finish!
Haha I shouldn't complain about too much to read. It's like complaining that you're too rich. ;) Plus, I write posts like this alllll the time on my blog..

Wow, it sounds really powerful... I'll definitely look it up next time I'm at the library. :) It's not LDS fiction, is it?

Oh, and I'm just gonna tell you right now that you are the cutest thing on earth and you keep making me smile. It's not fair. ;)

  5. Kallie... I failed you. I went to the library, found this book, HELD IT IN MY HANDS FOR LIKE THREE MINUTES.... and then I didn't get it.

My mom wasn't there and for some reason, I didn't want to use my library card. And I have 35 other books to read.

At least those were the excuses I used when I was there. Now they seem weak and ridiculous. I'm sorry I didn't get it. I will, someday soon. :P
